If you have been trying to find a therapist and seen lots of pages detailing what a therapist does you will have noticed they are all somewhat similar and that is because we all offer essentially the same service - however each therapist is unique and each client is unique. I have been working as a therapist for 6 years. I have found in my experience that it is the relationship co-created by my client and I that is the most valuable aspect to my work. In order to build this relationship I work with what the client wants to work with. I create a relaxed open and safe emotional space to gradually explore what has brought the client to me. I have worked with a wide range of issue's including depression, bereavement, relationship issue's, addiction, self harm and in particular Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse. This work has similar themes including experienced patterns in your life relating to relationship with yourself or with others. The absence of closure following loss.. Reclaiming your sense of identity following events that have impacted on how you think and feel about yourself . It is so important in clearing a space within to grow the Core Self. Many of us live our lives entrapped by the same patterns of behaviour causing us pain and disappointment. Often it is the unconscious that drives us into choices that leave us baffled frustrated and hurt. Therapy involves the liberation and freedom from the slavery of these patterns and processes. As a therapist I hope to create a place that is safe, non-judgemental and supportive to start the work of exploring the material presenting, More importantly the foundation of our therapeutic alliance starts at first contact and continues to grow, Working out your patterns, your grief, anger, whatever has brought you to this point in your life. I work at your pace. You are at the centre of all that we do. I have found in working with all of these issue's that healing is possible for everyone however it does require work and courage. My skill set and experience both as a therapist and in other 'helping' roles gives me an insight into how the process of healing begins, the defences created to keep the client safe having to be handled with care and compassion. I would also say that therapy gets worse before it gets better. The process of healing takes time, events can be re-felt that cause great pain however also liberation and freedom to make healthier choices for yourself. I also feel that if you are reading this you are brave, courgeous and ready for the next step
